Pre-K Summer Camp 2024

For children aged 3-5 who have not yet started Kindergarten, our Summer Camps offer opportunities to explore both indoors and outdoors, with friends and teachers. Our Reggio inspired programs give children and adults the space to learn together, and follow interests and projects in a safe, supportive environment.

K-7 Summer Camp 2023

For children in Grades K-7 who have already started at Elementary school, our Summer Camps offer opportunities to engage with friends, the community, nature, art and sport. Our Reggio inspired curriculum flows in to our Out of School Care programs, and teachers support children to be responsible and creative explorers.

Please note, registering here does not guarantee a space, and spaces are offered on a first come first served basis. Sunflower will update all registrants as soon as possible with any changes to the Camp programs. Upon registering your interest on our website, you will receive an email with details of whether your required days are available, and all other necessary forms required to register in the program, along with payment information.*

first serve basis and will only run if the minimum number of registrations is met.

Camp Details 2024

Sunflower ELS is a Reggio Emilia Insipred school however during the summer we take a more theme based approach. The reason for this is that most children only attend camp for a week or two at a time and the Reggio Emilia methods we use are based in deep meaningful interests that develop over time. Since we don't have that time during summer to develop those interests we instead focus on creating fun, engaging and memorable experiences for your child.

Preschool Camps

Exploring Colours- Children will spend the week experimenting with and playing with colours in various ways, from lights to paint and colours in nature this week is sure to be colourful!

World Of Water - Educators will take children on a journey under the sea as we explore what lives under water, the ways we interact with water and how we can protect our oceans.

Astronaut Camp - 3..2…1… Blast off! Join us on our 5 day space themed adventure. We will be learning about rockets, stars, planets and constellations all while making beautiful and colourful rocket ships!

All about Dinosaurs! -Dinosaur camp offers a thrilling educational experience for young children to delve into the world of these ancient creatures. Through interactive activities, such as fossil digging, art projects, and storytelling, this camp fosters a sense of wonder and curiosity about the prehistoric era.

Let’s Get Active This week we will be learning about how we can be active in different ways! From jumping and obstacle courses to running and somersaults, this will be an active week!

Nature Week - This week of camp will take place almost exclusively outdoors as we wonder and marvel in the nature around us. We will work on identifying trees, bugs and other creatures we share the outdoors with! *note that this camp will involve lots of walking outside of Sunflower so please ensure your child is able to follow group directions and walk safely on a sidewalk before registering*

K-7 Camps
all field trips are subject to change due to staffing or wealther conditions

Sport + Field - Come play with us! This week we will be learning and playing over 7 different sports and games. From classic sports like basketball to unique ones like ultimate frisbee, this week will be full of fun competition. *includes walking/bus trip to ClimbBase5*

Camp Carnival - Welcome to Carnival Sunflower! This week we will be working on some fun circus skills like juggling, cartwheels, ribbon dancing and more. We are going to create some of our own carnival games and play some classics! *This week we will be taking a bus to visit Playland theme park. Children who attend this week should be comfortable in crowds and be excellent at following directions. We will be operating with a significantly lower ratio during this trip*

Enchanted Forest- This week we will be learning about enchanted creatures who live in the forest and will be making our very own fairy garden! Join us as we adventure to far off forests and dance among the trees *includes bus field trip to Capilano suspension Bridge*

Pirates Ahoy- Aye Aye, matey! We are looking for treasure! This week, children will be travelling the seas. Children will be learning how to, communicate with their crew, hide and seek treasures, and play fun pirate games *includes bus field trip to John Lawson Park*

Creative Arts - Lets get Creative! This week we will be exploring various types and techniques of art. Join us as we work with paint, clay, beads, and pastels. We will also be exploring arts like dance, music and theatre. *includes bus trip to Pottery Studio

Flight Academy Camp- Welcome to Flight Adventures, where the sky's the limit and imagination takes flight! Our camp offers an exhilarating journey into the world of aviation, where children can spread their wings and soar into a week filled with excitement, discovery, and hands-on learning.*includes a field trip to Fly over Canada

Park Adventures - This week we will be going from park to park spending lots of time playing games outside! We will start the week with some closer to home parks like Murdow Frazer and then branch off to some new parks we haven't seen before! *This camp includes multiple walking + bus trips a day, children who attend this camp should be comfortable going with the flow and be excellent at following directions. Includes trip to Grouse Mountain*

Under the Sea - Let’s go on an adventure with the most amazing creatures under the vast deep blue sea! With curiosity and the power of the arts, children will do everything from fish painting to sandcastle construction – it’s sure to be a whale of a time. *includes bus field trip to the Ambleside Beach*
