Jasmina

Rubab began her teaching career as a grade-school teacher in Pakistan, where she taught math and accounting to grades 7 & 8. She recently just completed her ECE here in Canada and has experience of working in Early Childhood Education at several different schools and daycares in North Vancouver. Rubab sees children as independent, curious, active citizens who are interested in building a relationship with the environment and the people around them. She enjoys co-constructing knowledge with children, supporting them to become confident beings who can reach their full potential. She loves travelling, hiking, and spending time with friends and her husband & three children.

Jasmina has been a preschool supervisor for over 20 years and is particularly experienced in parent participation. She strives to discover each child’s unique way of learning whilst providing the tools and stimulation to keep their love of learning alive. Most of all, she wants the children in her care to remember how she made them feel, and not just what they learned whilst they were at preschool. The child of an artist, she was brought up to enjoy various forms of art, play tennis, pickleball and loves to travel.

“Tell me and I’ll forget, show me and I’ll remember, involve me and I’ll understand”.

Daniella is creative and vocal and loves to bring this to her practice in preschool. She has a BA in Early Childhood Education and more than 10 years of experience working with children in daycare and preschool in both Mexico and North Vancouver.

She believes that when children feel safe, they are ready to learn and explore. She enjoys that children often notice the details of things, and are open to experiencing the small, every-day wonders of the world. She is an active Mom in our community in Pemberton Heights, always busy looking for ways she can support our school and other people. She enjoys going on adventures with her husband and two children.

I have been teaching since 1988. As well as Sunflower, I teach at University Hill Preschool and have done for the last 27 years. I graduated from SFU with a BA in French Literature and minor in Early Childhood Education. I attended the North American Tour to Reggio Emilia, Italy, in March 2009. I was very inspired and apply many aspects of the Reggio approach in to the curriculum. I speak Farsi, English and French. I am very excited to build relationships with all the Sunflower families.

Sydney

& Sundance Class

Sydney has her Infant Toddler and Special Education certificates, and has worked with children in preschool, outdoor school, IB and School Aged programs over the last few years. She is an advocate for the Reggio Emilia approach, as well as giving children the opportunity to explore and investigate the outdoors. She loves playing the guitar, painting, wake-surfing, volleyball and travelling to new places.

Alice

Lead ECE Teacher - Big Smile

&  Chianti Class

Alice has worked in Early Childhood Education for the last 8 years, after leaving an established career in law. She believes that an adult’s actions can have a huge impact on a child’s life, and it gives her great joy and pride to support children in meeting their developmental milestones. She provides an environment that is fun, nurturing, interesting an open-ended, and loves experimenting with different pedagogies. She loves to spend time adventuring and trying new activities with her family.

Tarina

ECE Teacher

Big Smile Class

Tarina believes that supporting families and their children in the early years is exciting work. She especially likes to focus on building children’s confidence and resilience through experiential learning, inspired by Reggio Emilia. An avid reader, she loves sharing her passion for literature with the children and is able to read books in both English & French. She enjoys travelling, gardening, cycling, writing, art, languages, and music.

Atoussa

Lead ECE Teacher

Sundance Class

Atoussa has been teaching since 1988. She has a BA in French Literature and minor in Early Childhood Education. She has been lucky enough to visit Reggio Emilia in Italy and was inspired to apply many aspects of this approach to her pedagogy.

Atoussa believes children have potential, curiosity, and a desire to learn. Each child is unique and has a different approach to learning. As a teacher my role is to provide the children with a range of possibilities and provocations. The wider the range of possibilities, the richer the children’s experiences.
